A brief history as told by Ross --Vanguard Spares pty ltd
They were a volume seller in their day and would have effected Victas sales considerably. They were manufactured in Lilydale, my home town.
Back in the 50s and 60s everybody in this town was very loyal to our town based manufacturers, so nearly everybody had a Turner. They were the first with a Poly catcher which would have been a slap in the face for Victa. The last of the turner safety mowers were very advanced and a nice looking mower.
Ironically the Lilydale factory broke the company. The cost of shipping from Nunawading to Lilydale was excessive and the amount of theft from Lilydale was enormous.
